How to Make Crunchy Slime

If you’re looking for a new idea when it comes to making slime then why not try and make some crunchy slime! You may have heard of or seen floam slime before or even fishbowl slime, basically, shop bought crunchy slime. The recipe that we will provide you to make crunchy slime will be using foam beads.

DIY Crunchy Slime Recipe

You can make crunchy slime two ways. You can either use saline solution which makes a slimy version of crunchy slime or you can use borax powder which creates a slime that is more mouldable. You will need to begin by creating basic slime. We will provide you with the methods to make both slimes using saline solution or borax powder.

1. Saline Solution Slime:

Ingredients:

• PVA Glue – ½ a Cup
• Saline Solution – 1 Tbsp
• Water – ½ Cup
• Baking Powder – ½ tsp
• Food coloring (optional)
• Storage Container
• Bowl
• Spoons

Method:

1. In a bowl, mix together the glue and the water and add food coloring (optional).
2. Add the baking soda and saline solution and mix together.
3. Knead the mixture with your hands.

2. Borax Powder Slime:

Ingredients:

• PVA Glue – ½ a Cup
• Borax Powder – ½Tbsp
Water
• Food coloring (optional)
• Storage Container
• Bowl
• Spoons

Method:

1. In a bowl, mix together the glue and ½ cup of water and add food coloring (optional).
2. In a separate bowl mix together ½ cup of warm water and the borax powder. Add this to the above glue mixture.
3. Stir the mixture well and then knead with your hands.

To now make these recipes into crunchy slime, you will need to add 1 cup of mini foam beads at the point where you mix the ingredients together.

Alternative Recipe

If you want to make crunchy slime that’s extra thick then follow the below recipe instead:

Follow the above borax powder recipe but do not use the water that is mixed with the glue at the beginning. However, you will still need to mix the borax powder with the warm water.
Instead, you will need to add the foam beads straight into the glue and follow the remainder of the recipe. You will find that this crunchy slime recipe will produce a slime that is extra stiff.

Something to bear in mind that the more foam beads you add to the mixture, the thicker the slime will be.

Slime Gone Wrong

Sometimes slime goes wrong and it doesn’t work out. We will provide you with some hints and tips to consider if this happens to your slime:

1. Make sure that you have carefully followed the recipe. The measurements are crucial and where possible follow videos or step by step images. Be sure to use measuring cups.
2. Make sure that you’ve used the right kinds of glue. The glue needs to be PVA.
3. You need to make sure that you have used the correct slime activators. Activators include saline solution, borax powder, and liquid starch.
4. Make sure that you knead the slime thoroughly. Don’t be tempted to add more of the activator, it’s likely that if your slime has gone wrong, you need to knead it more.
