Slime and Temperature

Once you have created your slime you can look into changing the color of it. This is all dependent on the temperature. If the temperature is around 25 ℃ (77 ℉) the slime will be in a shifted state. If you use some ice you will see the slime changing back to its original state and color.

Another aspect that can change the color of the slime is friction. Therefore, try and roll some of the slimes in your hands and watch it change color.

These color changes are reversible so you can heat or cool the slime as much as you like and see these effects take place.

How Else Thermochromic Pigment Can Be Used

Aside from making slime, the color changing pigment can be used in other ways such as:

  • Playdough

If you want to make color changing playdough then you need to add some thermochroic pigment once you have cooked your thermochromic playdough.

  • Paint

As a base, you will need some transparent gloss. To this gloss, add the thermochroic pigment and mix thoroughly. Apply this paint onto a mug for example and you will see how the color changes when a hot liquid is poured into a mug.
