We take the difficulty out with our top 20 easy slime recipes.

You are probably well aware of the fact that there are many, many different easy slime recipes that you and your kids can try to create. So, we’ve decided to provide you with the ultimate slime list to making this gooey concoction.   1. Rainbow Slime Recipe

If you’re looking for a fun and colorful easy slime recipes then look no further!

Ingredients:

  • Pink, green blue and purple Elmer’s glue
  • 2 tbsp of contact lens solution
  • 4 x mixing bowls

Method:

  • Place each color of glue in a separate bowl.
  • Add an equal amount of the contact lens solution to each bowl of glue and ensure that you mix well.
  • Knead each bowl of glue (slime) until it becomes soft and is no longer sticky.
  • Next, you will need to roll each color of slime and stretch it so that it becomes like a sausage in shape.
  • Lay each of the four slimes next to each other. Gently pinch them together and begin to stretch them.
  • You will soon see the four colors come together and you will have created your rainbow slime!

  1. Heat Sensitive Colour Changing Slime Recipe

If you would like an easy slime recipe to create slime that changes color related to heat then we have the perfect recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz white glue
  • 3 tsp thermochromic pigment
  • 3 tbsp water
  • ¼ tsp contact lens solution
  • Food coloring (optional)

Method:

  • In a mixing bowl, add the white glue. Now add the water and stir.
  • If you’ve opted to use food coloring, add this to the bowl now.
  • Next, add the thermochromic pigment to the bowl and stir.
  • Add the contact lens solution to the bowl and stir until it all combines.
  • Finally, knead the slime until it becomes solid and not sticky. Simple and easy.

  1. Clay Slime Recipe

A more recent easy slime recipe is clay slime, which is otherwise known as butter slime. Like most this is an elmers glue slime recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Model Magic Clay (Crayola)
  • White Glue (e.g. Elmer’s)
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • contact lens solution

Method:

  • Begin by making a basic slime recipe
  • Now you will need to soften out your clay and then combine it with the slime that you’ve already made.
  • It will require lots of kneading, squishing, folding and mixing but eventually it will come together and create a soft and squishy one colored slime.

  1. Magnetic Slime Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of White Glue
  • ¼ cup of Liquid Starch
  • 2 tbsp. Iron oxide powder
  • Magnet – neodymium
  • Bowls

Method:

  • Pour the liquid starch into a bowl. Add the iron powder and mix well.
  • Now add the glue to the mixture and continue to mix.
  • Remove the slime from the bowl and use your hands to mix it. If there’s any liquid that’s left inside the bowl, don’t worry about this as this doesn’t need to be used. You may find that your hands turn black, so you will need to wash them as soon as possible. If this doesn’t come off straight away, there’s no need to panic as it will come off by the next day. If you really don’t want to stain your hands then a good option would be to use disposable gloves.
  • Use some paper towels to pat the slime dry and remove any of the excess liquid. Once the slime has dried out it won’t stain your hands anymore and the slime will be ready to have fun with! A simple easy slime recipe.

  1. Snow Slime Recipe

Kids love snow but unfortunately, it’s not available all year round! Well, it can be if you have a go at making some snow slime instead of waiting for the white stuff to fall from the clouds! Kids love it and it is simple and easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of either silver glitter glue, clear glue or white glue (each one will provide you with a different end result)
  • 3 cups of warm water
  • Peppermint extract (optional if you’d like a wintery scent)
  • ¾ tsp of contact lens solution
  • Glitter (optional)
  • 2 bowls

Method:

  • Mix the glue, 1 ½ cups of water and the peppermint extract together in a bowl.
  • In the other bowl add the remaining water and the contact lens solution together and mix.
  • Now you will need to combine both bowls together.
  • Mix this solution and you will start to see the snow slime form.
  • If you would like to make snow that sparkles, now is the time to add the glitter.
  • To really make the slime feel like snow, place the slime mixture in the refrigerator for approximately an hour.

  1. Glow in the Dark Slime Recipe

Whether it’s for Halloween or just for fun, glow in the dark easy slime recipe will amaze your kids as it really does glow! Try this recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • ½ cup of warm water
  • 4oz White Glue
  • 3-4 tbsp. of glow in the dark paint
  • 1 tsp saline solution
  • Food coloring (neon)
  • 2 bowls

Method:

  • Begin by pouring the white glue into a bowl.
  • Fill the empty glue bottles with warm water and shake them.
  • Pour this water into the bowl and stir with a spoon.
  • Add the neon food coloring to the mixture.
  • Add the glow in the dark paint to the mixture and stir.
  • In the second bowl, mix together the ½ cup of warm water and 1 tsp of saline solution.
  • Now mix this saline solution water with the glue and stir with a spoon. If need be, use your hands to make sure the mixture is mixed together properly.

  1. Edible Slime Recipe

 If your children are tempted to eat slime every time you make it then it may be worth making slime that they can actually eat such as this recipe using gummy bears! This is one of the few slime recipes without glue. Easy and tastes great.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup of gummy bears
  • ½ tbsp of oil
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (i.e. icing sugar)

Method:

  • Heat the gummy bears for 30 seconds in a microwave. Ensure they have melted and heat for longer if some the mixture is not perfectly smooth. Allow the mixture to cool.
  • Mix the sugar and cornstarch together and place half of this on a clean surface.
  • Pour the gummy bear mixture onto the cornstarch and begin to knead. Add the reaming cornstarch mixture. Continue to knead this until the mixture stops feeling sticky.
  • To help make the mixture stretchy, knead in some of the oil. Only use the amount of oil that is necessary, you may not need to use it all.

  1. Star Confetti Slime Recipe


    Star Confetti Slime

Star confetti slime is perfect for occasions such as Christmas or birthday parties. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz White PVA glue
  • ¼ cup of Water
  • ¼ cup of liquid starch
  • Star confetti
  • Mixing bowl
  • A measuring cup
  • A spoon
  • Food coloring (optional)

Method:

  1. Begin by mixing the glue and the water together in the bowl.
  2. If you wanted to add food coloring, add a few drops now.
  3. Now add the liquid starch and the star confetti and mix this well.

Aside from being good fun, slime also has many sensory benefits.

  1. Fruit Scented Slime Recipe

Fruit scented slime is perfect if you fancy making scented slime but don’t want to have to splash out on expensive perfumed scents.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of clear glue
  • 1 tbsp Jello (gelatine packet)
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1-2 tbsp saline solution (must contain sodium borate and boric acid)
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Glitter and food coloring (optional)

Method:

  • In a bowl combine the glue, Jello, water and baking soda. If you wish to add glitter of food coloring do this now.
  • Add the saline solution. Add more solution of the slime is too sticky.
  • Mix the slime. Once it becomes too hard to stir you to need to begin kneading it.
  • Ensure that you knead the slime well as this is what reduces any stickiness.

  1. Metallic Slime Recipe

If you’re looking to make some shiny metallic slime which would be great to use for special occasions when you could try and make some metallic slime. This recipe does not use borax:

Ingredients:

  • Metallic glitter (i.e. gold or silver) or metallic slime powder
  • PVA Glue
  • Water
  • Liquid Starch
  • Gold and Silver Glue (1 oz)
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Storage container with a lid
  • Measuring cup
  • Bowl
  • Spoon

Method:

  • Into a cup, add the gold and silver glue up to the halfway point.
  • Now add the PVA glue to fill the cup to the top.
  • Place the above ingredients in a bowl.
  • Take half a cup of water and add this to the glue mixture and combine all of these ingredients together.
  • If you would like to add glitter then now is the time to add it. Glitter will really help to make your slime, so be very generous with it if you are looking to make your slime shine!
  • Next, add ½ cup of liquid starch to the above mixture.
  • Stir all of the above ingredients until it forms into slime.
  • Take the slime out of the bowl and use your hands to kneed in until it becomes smooth and shiny. Kneading your slime will help you to achieve the right consistency.
  • Once you’ve done this, put the metallic slime in your storage container. When stored correctly, the slime will last for many weeks.

It is important that children use and make slime safely.

  1. Bubblegum Slime Recipe

If you want to make some slime recipe fluffy pink bubble gum easy slime recipe then we have the perfect recipe for you.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of shaving cream
  • 1 cup of white glue
  • 5-6 tsp of activator (1 tbsp contact lens solution)
  • 4-5 tsp of cornstarch
  • A few drops of pink food coloring

Method:

  • Mix the cup of glue with half of the shaving cream.
  • Now add the cornstarch and mix it in well.
  • Add the food coloring and once again mix it in well.
  • Now you need to add the activator. Ad this one tsp. at a time and avoid adding it all at once.
  • Finally, add the remaining1/2 cup of shaving cream to the mixture.
  • Remove the mixture form you bowl and play with it. Once you have finished store your slime in an airtight container.

  1. Fluffy Cloud Slime Recipe

If you’re looking to make some soft and fluffy slime then have a go at making some fluffy cloud slime!

Ingredients:

  • Elmer’s Glue
  • Contact lens solution
  • Instant snow
  • Food coloring
  • Large container for mixing

Method:

  • Pour all the glue into a big bowl.
  • Add food coloring and stir to mix well. It’s appropriate to use blue food coloring seeing as we are making cloud slime. But you may use any other color that you like.
  • Now it’s time to make some slimy magic! Slowly mix in your slime activator, the contact lens solution, until a perfect gooey slime is formed.
  • Take out another container and pour in your instant snow. Add in a little water at a time while mixing. Stop when your instant snow has come to life.
  • Now, you can add the instant snow mixture to your slime and knead to mix together. Watch your cloud slime take form!

  1. Watermelon Slime Recipe

If you love the smell of watermelon then have a go at making some watermelon scented slime. Perfect for the summer!

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles of white glue
  • Watermelon Jello
  • 1 cup of liquid starch
  • Pink food coloring
  • Green pompoms
  • A bowl and a wooden spoon

Method:

  • Place the glue in the bowl and add 1 tbsp of the Jello and a good few drops of the food coloring and mix well.
  • Now add the liquid starch and stir until it becomes like a ball.
  • Using your hands, knead the slime so that the consistency turns into slime.
  • The slime is now ready to play with and at now you can add the pompom ‘seeds’ to the slime.

  1. Crunchy Slime Recipe

This recipe involves using foam beads in order to make some crunchy slime. Crunchy slime provides you with slime that has an interesting texture to it. We will provide with a recipe that uses saline solution:

Ingredients:

  • PVA Glue – ½ a Cup
  • Saline Solution – 1 Tbsp
  • Water – ½ Cup
  • Baking Powder – ½ tsp
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Storage Container
  • Bowl
  • Spoons

Method:

  • In a bowl, mix together the glue and the water and add food coloring (optional).
  • Add the baking soda and saline solution and mix together.
  • Knead the mixture with your hands.

Slime Recipe: Hard

  1. Chalkboard Slime Recipe

If you’re looking to make a multi-colored slime then chalkboard slime is a must!

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz White glue
  • ½ tsp contact lens solution which contains boric acid
  • 2 tbsp chalkboard paint
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • Chalk markers

Method:

  • Add the glue and chalkboard paint to a bowl and mix well.
  • Add the baking soda to the mixture.
  • Now add the contact lens solution and stir the mixture. You will see the slime start to thicken.
  • Remove the slime from the bowl and knead it for a couple of minutes.
  • You are now ready to draw on your slime using the chalkboard markers, press them down into the slime to make dots. Stretch the slime to watch your dots change and make new patterns.
  • Once you want to create a new drawing, simply knead the slime until the colors disappear and you will be ready to start again!

  1. Bubbling Slime Recipe

If you are looking for a slime recipe which using only edible ingredients then this is the perfect choice for you:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of white vinegar
  • Food coloring
  • 1 ¼ tsp xanthan gum
  • Baking soda

Method:

  • Begin by adding the vinegar to a bowl. Start to add the xanthan gum to the vinegar whilst at the same time whisking vigorously. At this point also add any food coloring should you want to.
  • You will need to place the slime mixture in the fridge for a few hours as the gum will have created little lumps. Afterward, whisk the slime one again until the mixture becomes smooth. You will find that the texture is creamy, cloudy yet gooey.
  • In a tub have a layer of baking soda. Pour the slime mixture over this and get ready to enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 bottles of White glue
  • 3 tsp Cocoa powder
  • Liquid starch
  • Brown food coloring

Method:

  • Pour the glue into a bowl and add the cocoa powder and a few drops of the brown food coloring. Store this mixture until the cocoa powder vanishes.
  • Fill the empty glue bottles with liquid starch and now add this to the mixture. You may need to add another half a bottle of liquid starch.
  • Once you have created slime that is not sticky and is stretchy you can begin to have fun!
  • Once the starch stops clumping, begin to knead the starch using your hands. If it feels sticky you will need to add more liquid starch.

Ingredients:

  • 5 oz white glue
  • 1 tbsp food coloring
  • 1 tbsp red glitter
  • 4 oz liquid starch
  • water

Method:

  • Add the glue to a bowl and mix in the food coloring.
  • Begin to add the liquid starch and mix well.
  • Knead the slime for a couple of minutes to continue to do so until it is stretchy and not sticky. Add some more small liquid starch if the mixture is still sticky.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of white glue
  • 1 ½ cups of hot water
  • Peppermint extract to add a wintery smell
  • Glitter

Method:

  • Mix all of the above ingredients together in a bowl.
  • In another bowl mix together 3-4 tsp of contact lens solution.
  • Combine the two bowls together and mix thoroughly. You will begin to see the snow slime form.
  • Add the glitter if you’d like your slime to sparkle and peppermint extract to create that wintery scent!
  • If you wish, place the slime in the fridge to make it feel as cold as snow!

  1. Mud Slime Recipe

If you’re looking to make 1a easy slime recipe that resembles mud or dirt then this recipe is sure to please:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz of warm water
  • 8 oz of white glue
  • 6-7 oz liquid starch
  • ¼ cup of coffee granules
  • 1 tbsp brown food coloring

Method:

  • Pour the glue and water into a bowl and add the food coloring and mix well.
  • Now add the coffee granules to the mixture and mix.
  • You will now need to add the liquid starch to the mixture, 1 tbsp at a time. Once you have added around half of the liquid starch, take the mixture and begin to knead it.
  • Now continue to add the liquid starch, 1 tbsp at a time whilst continuing to knead.
  • As soon as the consistency feels right you can get to play with your muddy slime!
