It’s all the rage in kid circles today and, fortunately, it is simple and inexpensive to make. If you’d like to make your own fluffy slime with contact solution, but don’t know how then read on!

This slime recipe is easy and fun to do. The process for making fluffy slime is pretty simple and involves only a few ingredients you probably already have around the house. If not, you can get these ingredients at any discount or drug store such as Wal-Mart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc. So, let’s gather our ingredients and get started!

What Do You Need?

Ingredients:
1/2 cup school glue
1/2 cup shaving cream
Heaping tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon Borax or contact solution
1 cup hot water
Lotion
1/2 cup foaming soap or body wash
Food coloring

(Note: the lotion and foaming soap are optional, but will produce a better texture in the slime if used)

How Do You Do It?
Begin by mixing the Borax into the hot water.  Stir until it is completely dissolved. Set this aside since we’ll be using it later.

*Note: You can have a fluffy slime recipe without borax. All you do is skip using Borax to make fluffy slime with contact solution. Basically, use the contact solution in its place.

Pour the glue into another bowl.
Add the shaving cream to the glue.
If you are using the foaming soap, add it to the glue/shaving cream mixture at this time. It is optional but will make your slime fluffier.
Mix these three ingredients together well, making sure there are no lumps and it is smooth. The result should be fluffy and thick.
Add in the cornstarch and mix well.

If you are using lotion, add it at this time – about two pumps or so. This helps to make the slime more stretchy.
Add in the food coloring and carefully stir. Begin with just a couple drops at a time and stir well until you get the shade you want.
Now, add three teaspoons of the Borax/water mixture to the bowl. Stir it in well and continue to add one to three teaspoons at a time until the slime is the consistency you want. It is usually around six to nine teaspoons, so you will not use the whole cup of the mixture.
When you can clump the slime into a ball, remove it from the bowl, place it on a flat surface and begin to knead it. Yes, just like bread. If it’s still too sticky, continue to add the Borax/water mixture or contact solution, a teaspoon at a time.

At this point, check to see how stretchy your slime is. If you want it stretchier, add more lotion to the mixture. Sometimes it can take a dozen or more pumps of the lotion to get it the right consistency, so it’s okay to use more.

  • Ba Ha !! We had so much fun! A midnight trip to Kroger because we couldn’t wait till tomorrow. By 3 am we had made four neon colors. It was no fail…First time to ever make Slime and it came out perfectly. We used some sweet smelling Sea Island Cotton, Bath and Body Works lotion but not the soap addition. I highly recommend this recipe. I had no problem with fear of mixing a teaspoon of Borax in a cup of water, then using about six teaspoons of that. This was made in an all adult household but it’s such a tiny amount. Thank you so much for posting this and bringing JOY to the World! XO
